Having your own fashion website can come with a lot of perks. I say that because, these days brands are more interested in working with bloggers and influencers to market their product or service. Our audience gets the real-time perspective from a blogger than they would from an advertisement.
That in a way, gives us bloggers an advantage, right? Own it. Because it’s the truth.
Apart of being full-time for myself includes the fact that I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing brands and be apart of some exciting campaigns. Most recent, I’ve had the opportunity to work with L’Oreal Hair to help launch a new product line and fly out to Canada to take part of this campaign.
If you follow bloggers you may see that they work with brands and probably wonder what a day in a life would be like once you’re booked! So, I’m going to share my experience with you.
While I share these types of posts with you guys, it is in no way to boast or brag, I just like to lay out how I started my journey to where I am now to show that it can also happen for you.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2016
I received the email asking if I wanted to be apart of this L’Oreal Hair campaign and they wanted to fly me out on an all-expenses paid trip to Canada that coming Monday.
I remember my hands shaking as I was reading that email. To say that I was excited was an understatement, of course I accepted! And immediately had to start prepping myself to travel to Canada in a few days.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8 - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 11
These next few days were a little crazy as I ran around trying to get everything in order for my trip. I had already planned on being in Houston that next week as well, so I had to now prep for being away for an entire week, not just a few days.

The day arrived.
A driver was sent to pick me up to take me to the airport and my travel to Canada was underway.
The plane ride was about 2 hours. This was my first time to Canada so I was super excited. I almost panicked for a minute because I couldn’t find my luggage, but I did.
At baggage claim, there was a driver waiting for me with a sign that read my name. On our way to the hotel, I was trying to take everything in. It was so beautiful, it was cold and snowing and I am usually never excited about cold weather.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, as I was walking up to the room, I noticed a staff member following behind me with these insanely huge balloons (I thought nothing of it) until I realized he was behind me still when I got to my door. L’Oreal had welcomed me with balloons that had their name on it, the name of the campaign, my name and the balloon colors where the color that my hair was going to be for the campaign.
After being a kid and jumping up and down, running around the room and taking pics, I immediately put on my snow boots and headed outside to walk around. I had a small timeframe because I had a hair appointment later that evening.
At 7PM, I met with one of the L’Oreal team members and the hair process began. When I returned to my hotel, I ordered room service and called it a night because I knew tomorrow would be a long day.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2016
Woke up. Ordered room service. Then went to set.
As soon as I walked in, I met the crew and they began working on my hair and makeup.
I only had two outfit changes, took looks of before and after shots, filmed, did videos, had an interview with the team and of course a photoshoot!
I was so excited to walk away with an official #Colorista bomber jacket that they created for us and Aldo shoes sent me a pair of booties as a gift!
Oh, let’s not forget about @thedaileigh cookies. How cute were these?!
The team was so amazing. Although it was non-stop, it was such the experience!! I was there for about 6 to 7 hours. After we wrapped I went back to the hotel, relaxed, ate and waited for one of my girlfriends to arrive in Canada (who was also taking part in this campaign).
She arrived around midnight, we hung out for a bit then called it a night.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2016
I woke up early so I could take in the last bits of Canada before my driver arrived.
I ordered room service, opened the windows in my room and sat on my bed looking out and enjoyed my final breakfast. It was snowing again and I honestly didn’t want to leave.
Heading down to checkout, I see the same driver that picked me from the airport, I was so excited to see a familiar face. We chatted the entire way to the airport and I gave him the biggest hug when I said goodbye to him.
I was back on the plane and heading back home.
I arrived back home around 4PM, a driver was waiting to take me home from the airport. I knew I had a long night ahead of because I was leaving for Houston at 5AM the next morning so I took a nap.
Needless to say, I got NO sleep that night and before I knew it I was back at the airport, on the plane taking part in my next adventure/collaboration…
Blogging has allowed me to do things I could only dream of and live a life I only imagined. While it may sound cliche, deciding to blog was probably the best decision I could have ever made. If it weren’t for blogging, I wouldn’t be afforded these wonderful opportunities.
You can tell from my story, I began from scratch, I didn’t have a huge following or a ton of page views but have been able to turn my blog into my full-time business.
If you’re looking to start your journey, DO IT. You own yourself that, right?
If you’re not sure on where to begin, this is what I recommend:
Step 1: Defining your fashion brand - breakdown your who, what, why, how and style before you begin building your website and online presence. I walk you through this in my online workshop, Define Your Fashion Brand. This is step one before you even begin designing and laying out your fashion website.
Step 2: Time to start building your website! I have created your roadmap to launching in my online course, Launch Your Fashion Website. This course gives you the point of view from a fashion blogger who has been able to grow their blog and launch to a full-time business. Full details and enroll: HERE.
Running a blog is definitely an experience that comes with a lot of responsibilities but the opportunities outweigh them and make it beyond worth it. Everyone has a talent, why not share it? There is room for everyone! Everyone has a different outlook and perspective on fashion, so why not share yours?
